TOUR de FRESH 2010The When:Tuesday, July 20, 2010 Time: 5:30pm – 8pm The Where: The Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market Ferris Street between Hamilton and Adams The What: 4th Annual tour of Ypsilanti area garden, urban farm, & sustainable food system. Sponsored by Transition Town Ypsi, Bike Ypsi, and Growing Hope. Reserve your spot now! Bike the route (helmets & lights required), or go by van or car. Sign-in at 5:30 pm; tour 6-8 PM We'll stop at sites where our neighbors are growing food, including raised beds; bees; chickens, goats and rabbits, teaching children how good food gets from seed to plate; community gardens; a co-op, and possibly some new hospital gardens. We'll see examples of season extension, including at Growing Hope, where we'll see the Growing Hope hoophouse in full swing. Light meal when the tour ends at the Growing Hope Center. Support the BIKE YPSI Make-A-Wish ridershis year 6 riders are riding under the Bike Ypsi banner and participating in the Make-A-Wish rides. On July 22-25, riders will be either riding the 3 day WAM 300 from Traverse City to Chelsea or riding the 1 day WAM 50 in Chelsea. These riders are not only riding for the "event" but are doing so in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Your sponsorship of their rides will mean so much to children with life-threatening illnesses throughout Michigan. This ride is able to provide 250 wishes by virtue of the funds raised.
