Tour de Fresh 2017 is a group bike tour that highlights the local food system in the Ypsilanti community. Bikers see and learn about positive projects impacting the city including farmers markets, community gardens, urban micro-farms, local honey projects, home vegetable gardens and more.

 

This year we will be focusing on garden and gardeners with amazing food stories to share that highlight the importance of sustainable food production and healthy food access in Ypsilanti. This event presented to you by Growing Hope and Bike Ypsi.

The ride meets at 10 am, from the Ypsilanti Depot Town Farmers Market at 100 Rice st, Ypsilanti, MI and will end approximately at 2 pm at Cultivate Coffee House at 307 N River St, Ypsilanti.

It’s Taco Tour time again!! This is now the Tenth Taco Tour and you are invited to join in the fun.

 

Tacos, bikes, beer, what more could you want?

How about a new taco? How about a real Taco truck? How about great beer?

 

Each ride will swing by GO! Ice Cream for a “Choco Taco.” The Choco Taco is an exclusive treat just for the Tour featuring dairy-free chocolate sorbet in a taco/waffle shell, dressed with chocolate glaze, dusted with chili spice!    

 

On the longer routes you will be served by a real Taco Truck.

 

Then, we will finish at Cultivate Coffee and Tap House to savor the best beer selection in Ypsilanti!!! The first beverage is included, and subsequent beer is $1 off! Coffee, tea and wine options also.

 

Here are this year’s choices:

 

Townie : $ 20.   6 MILES in Ypsilanti only

             3 tacos, 1 choco-taco, 1 custom bandanna, 1 beverage at Cultivate.

 

Traditional : $30.   17 MILES starting in Ypsi and looping to Platt Road and back

              6 tacos, 1 choco-taco, 1 custom bandanna, 1 beverage at Cultivate.

 

Torture : $35.    30 MILES starting in Ypsi and looping to west Ann Arbor and back

              9 tacos, 1 choco-taco, 1 custom bandanna, 1 beverage at Cultivate.

 

The really Hungry Riders can get extra taco tokens for $2 apiece, the Choco-taco token is $3.50

 

Kids who ride with a supervising adult can use extra taco tokens at $2 apiece without buying the full package.  Extra Bandanna is $5.

Our start and finish are different this year.

New Starting Point:  Frog Island parking lot. 699  Rice Street.

New Finish – Cultivate Coffee and Tap House. 307 N. River Street.

These are both in Depot Town, only a block apart. Please park cars at Frog Island, as River street parking is inadequate.

 

Sign-in and group assignment for event begins at 11:30 day of event, Sunday, September 17th.

Bike Ypsi Spring Ride 2017

Time to launch the 2017 cycling season!
Join Bike Ypsi for our annual spring ride and party in the park. The Bike Ypsi Spring Ride and Festival is the perfect event to jump start your summer of cycling. With guided rides for all skill levels, local bike shops to get your bike road ready, and no shortage of friends, food, and fun.
 
They will be several ride lengths and multiple groups for the main route (15ish miles) and the long route (30ish miles). More details on this will be posted closer to the event.
 
Registration begins at 9am and rides start rolling at 10am. Last out will be the family ride (very slow, 3 miles), leaving at 11am. All rides with have Bike Ypsi guides, as well as a support vehicle, and will focus on promoting safe, smart, fun riding.
 
All of the rides will be on paved roads of varying quality and traffic. If you are not comfortable riding on the road, please join the family ride.
 
Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders and mandatoty (state law) for all riders under 16. All minors must be accompanied on any ride by a parent/guardian.
 
The free BBQ with food provided for the cyclists by local companies will start around noon!

Holiday Lights Ride

Monday, December 19th, 2016;  7pm

The Where:

Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery, 720 Norris St, Ypsilanti

The What:

This year both a short ride (4-5 miles) and a “little longer” ride (8-10 miles) will take place through Ypsi residential neighborhoods to view Christmas light displays from your bike. Socializing afterward at the Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery (Norris and Forest in Ypsi). All riders should have working front and rear lights.

Devils Night Eve Halloween Ride

Lets go for a spooky ride on the Border To Border Trail though some dark wooded sections! Headlight and rear light required. Ride will take around 45 minutes at a casual pace, and mostly using off-road paved paths but some street riding. Costumes not required but encouraged. Post ride socializing at Arbor Brewing Company.

Cider & Donuts Ride

Join us for a ride out to Plymouth Orchard for cider and donuts. We will be traversing mostly dirt roads. The route is about 18 miles round trip.
As with all our events, we encourage helmet use. Helmets mandatory for riders under 16 in the state of Michigan. Minors should be riding with an adult who will stay with them for the entire ride.

 

This ride will be largely self-supporting, though we intend to ride in groups. Please be sure your bike is in good working order before you come out and be prepared with a phone, money, and a flat changing kit.

A little simpler this year, and back to basics – 2 routes: one dirt roads, one paved roads.

 

Paved roads: 28.5 miles.
Dirt roads: 21 miles.

 

Leaves from Corner Brewery (Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery), returns there at the end. Feel free to stay for socializing afterward if you like – it’s highly likely there will be folks hanging around afterwards in the beer garden.

 

Rides launch at 1pm from Arbor Brewing Microbrewery. Come earlier to sign in and get yourself set up.

 

As with all our rides, helmets are strongly encouraged for everyone, and mandatory for riders under 16 (state law, people). Any minors who join us must ride with a parent or guardian.

 

Note: this is a longer paved route than usual for a “main route”. We’ll break into groups – faster will be 15-16mph average. Expect to ride for 1.75 -3 hours depending on your group’s pace.

Taco Tour is at capacity and registration is CLOSED… we’re full, complete, stuffed, sated… whatever you want to call it.

 

200 riders is where we gotta call it and say “no mas”.

 

As of Tuesday night, if you already got in contact with Taco Tom, and sent your check in, and been received by now, you’re good.

 

If not, then we’re sorry, but begging will do you no good… there’s only so many that TT9 can handle.

 

For those 200… see y’all on Sunday.  Looks like it will be perfect – 72 and sunny, bikes and tacos.

 

TACO TOUR NUEVE

tacotour2015_imageAt Midsummer, thoughts turn to the last event of the season, the last bike ride of Summer.

 

Yes, it is again time for Taco Tour, the wheel turning, taco eating event held the last weekend before Fall.

 

This year marks edition nine, to be known as Taco Tour Nueve. Three different rides can be had, each of differing lengths and taco count.

The Rides:

 

Taco Tour Townie– 5-6 miles, 3 tacos, one beverage at the Corner, a commemorative pint glass, plus other extras. $18 per rider. Kids can tag along without registering. To feed and keep them happy extra taco tokens can be added for $2 each.

 

Taco Tour Traditional – 15-17 miles, 6 tacos, one beverage at the Corner, commemorative pint glass and extras. $25 per rider. Additional taco tokens for the hungry rider at $2 each.

 

Taco Tour Torture – 30+ miles, 9 tacos, one beverage at the Corner, a commemorative pint glass plus extras. $30 per rider. Should you desire even more fuel for the ride, additional taco tokens are $2 per.

 

We will be stopping at many favorite taquerias, and will include some new ones as well. As usual, tacos can be had to satisfy omnivores and herbivores alike.

 

Taco Tour t-shirts will be available at the end of the ride for $15 each. A limited number will be available. If you register early, and indicate size, one can be held just for you.

Bike Ypsi Spring Ride & Festival 2016

Now in it’s 8th year, and always the first Sunday in May, a fun way to officially welcome the summer riding season.

 

The 2016 Spring Ride will include a 15 mile ride exploring the roads and routes in the city of Ypsilanti, a 30 mile ride and a 40 mile ride for those wishing to challenge themselves, and see the surrounding areas. There is also a short family ride around the neighborhood for the small humans. All rides with have Bike Ypsi guides, as well as a support vehicle, and will focus on promoting safe, smart, fun riding.

 

There will be local bike shops on hand to perform maintenance before and after the ride to ensure that your bike is ready for the roads.

 

And, as always, the ride will be followed by a cookout with food provided for the cyclists by local companies and festivities galore.

First Ride In The First Hour of 2016

The What:

Start the year off right by riding in the first hour of the New Year! Ride leaves promptly at 12:30am as it will be too cold to wait around. Ride on low traffic residential streets. Lights (front and rear) mandatory. Ride will be around 6 miles long and take around 30-45 minutes. The start location is The Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery so people can warm up inside before the ride starts (and participate in ABC’s New Year’s Eve party).
